This is yet another long-overdue review of a fantastic Chinese restaurant!
My son and my ex-husband live within walking distance of King Wah, and my son introduced me to it several years ago. Last evening my son and I decided to have dinner there.
We definitely have our favorites - last evening he had the egg rolls (the menu says 3, but he received 4 good sized ones) and the sweet and sour prawns. He asks for that dish without the peppers (red and green bells) and extra sauce, which you can see from the photo that they provided. I had my favorite house garlic prawns, which are served on a bed of shredded lettuce, julienne carrot slices and chopped green onions. This time I also had the two mushroom baby scallops and prawns with vegetables (reminds me a bit of the "happy family" dishes I've enjoyed in other Chinese restaurants over the years). I stopped myself from finishing everything and brought the rest home - just as good reheated.
A tip: if you haven't already noticed this, the takeout cartons at Chinese resetaurants tend to disintegrate if there is a nice sauce, so I put the plastic bag in another plastic bag and transfer the contents to my own containers when I get home. I've forgotten to do that at times, with messy results.
As some have said, the parking could be more difficult since it's close to Macy's and the Murphy Street downtown area, but there is a huge parking area behind King Wah and other businesses along Washington and Sunnyvale Road, or you could park in the huge lot in front of Macy's and walk another block, or the underground parking near Target across from the Caltrain station. I'm always looking for handicap parking and usually can find it near the hotel along the Sunnyvale Road side in the King Wah block.
Entering from the rear parking area takes you past the kitchen and the very clean and updated small women's restroom. There is a long corridor and when you open the door, you are in a large room with numerous tables, including the ones with "lazy susan" style centers so large groups can share multiple dishes.
Everyone who works here is lovely and friendly and very helpful. Prices are about average for the area, and as others have said, the portions are really large! I wish they provided brown rice as well as the traditional white rice. On other visits I've had chow fun, which is one of my favorite dishes at any Chinese restaurant, and here as well.
Many people get takeout of course, and there is usually a parade of hungry people and food delivery drivers picking up orders. This is a humble establishment with hard-working great staff and chefs. -

Thank god I don't live across the street from here because if I did, my body would be v large and in charge. This is your nice hole- in- the- wall Chinese restaurant that serves nicely priced Chinese food at your service. They have some Americanized Chinese food and some more traditional Chinese which I love because who doesn't crave some crab rangoons or pan fried noodles sometimes?
Most dishes here are around the $10- $15 range and the portions are actually a really good size. We've ordered the Singapore Mei fun ($9.95), the clay pot rice bowl ($10.95), the mushu pork ($10.95), and the pan fried noodles with pork and bean sprouts (~$10.95).
Their dishes area also very tasty and not super oily which is nice, granted I go more for the traditional Chinese dishes usually. This is a really solid place to go and you can definitely order one dish and get 2-3 meals out of it. The only issue might be parking but there's plenty of street parking. -

Ordered Chinese food to go for dinner and it was okay..wouldn't recommend to anyone nor would I even go back.. orange chicken and princess chicken was super soggy which is very weird, salt and pepper chicken wings were smothered in batter(first time having chicken wings with batter :() and super greasy but I gave two stars because the fried rice was actually pretty good.
I feel like this place was over priced for the stuff you get -

Love this place, no frill Chinese foods. Great taste, good price. This is what going to for Chinese foods used to be like. Great hidden gem in Sunnyvale, been coming here for over 30 years

Came here with my family (party of 11) after a college graduation for lunch on a Saturday. Food came out quickly and was amazing. Had crispy fried chicken wings, honey walnut shrimp, clams, beef tomato noodles, and fried rice. Definitely had a lot of leftovers to take back home. The owners are always friendly.
I'll be coming back!
